Rozell Blackburn Obituary

We are saddened to announce the transition of Mr. Rozell Blackburn.

Rozell Blackburn, age 74, was born on January 1, 1952, in Moore's Bridge, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He was the beloved son of Ruth Kate Blackburn and the late Excel Wilson. Rozell attended Fayette High School in Fayette, Alabama, from an early age. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church in Fayette, Alabama.

Rozell proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Following his military service, he pursued a dedicated career as a truck driver, a profession he carried out with pride and commitment. He was known for his familiar saying, "10-4."

Rozell embraced the trucking life wholeheartedly and was respected for his strong work ethic. On April 26, 1997, he was united in marriage to Ida Robinson. He had a profound love for fishing and barbecuing-whether casting his line into the water or standing over a grill surrounded by family and friends. Rozell found joy in the simple things in life. He was known for his strength, steady presence, and deep love for his family. His life was one of service, dedication, faith, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched and in the memories shared by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Excel Wilson, and his sisters, Margie Copeland, Linda Montgomery, and Evelyn Freeman. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Ruth Kate Whiteside; his devoted wife, Ida Blackburn; his children, Roshelle Crummie (Monique), Kendris (Tasha) Blackburn, Quandrix (Tawana) Blackburn, Darnell Blackburn, Quincey Nalls, Latanya Bush, Ashley (Sammir) Maldonado, and Tiffany Friysinger; his extended sons, Robert Robinson and DeAndre Robinson; and his sister, Wanda Coleman. His grandchildren also survive him: Miracle Crummie, Ashley Hales, La'Shelle Woods, Bella Maldonado, Samuel Maldonado, Zaki Nalls, Quincey Nall Sr., Calvin Jr. Bush, William Hines, Takara Blackburn, Kendris Blackburn, Jeneria Blackburn, Jazmine Blackburn, Shyitita Blackburn, Austian Blackburn, Latina Blackburn, Delicia Robinson, Deandre Robinson Jr., Kourtney Robinson, and Rodney Hardnett; and his great-grandchildren. Additional loved ones include his mother-in-law, Josephine Morris; brothers-in-law, Jack Montgomery and William Copeland; sisters-in-law, Winnie Weaver, Alice Lumpkin, and Carol Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
